About The Campaign

Many towns up and down the bay area have a new, modern, sizeable community center that serves all ages, but not Los Gatos.

Research shows community centers strengthen social connections, reduce isolation, and improve the health and well-being among those who participate (1). Community centers in towns such as Los Altos, Palo Alto, Saratoga, Morgan Hill, and Mountain View an essential part those towns. The multiple existing (small) buildings do not meet the needs of our Los Gatos.

Starting in 2023 a dedicated group of local citizens formed an organization, Los Gatos Thrives, with a plan to create the perfect community center for Los Gatos. They quickly built a team, began research, and started engaging with town residents.

In 2024 research continued including site visits at other community centers, community workshops in Los Gatos, and a town survey. At the end of the year a Community Needs assessment report was completed and presented to the town council, and made available to the public.

In 2025 a campaign was launched to create awareness and take the concrete steps needed to bring a new community center to the town of Los Gatos.
